Pop up PantryIn honor of breast cancer awareness month we started our very first pop up pantry and provided food for the community.

GWBS Summer 2023One of the highlights of our program was witnessing our girls transform wood into extraordinary creations using the tools of the trade to strengthen their essential life skills such as cooking, playing music, and learning about finances. They traversed the city of New York to go on adventures such as traveling to Ellis Island, stepping inside the Statue of Liberty, going to a NY Mets game, and much more.

Dare to STEAM Summer CampOur Dare to STEAM summer camp allowed our girls to learn and strengthen their skills in robotics, coding, sewing, carpentry, Dj'ing, and much more. Our girls were also able to fly drones and obtain their certificates.

Family Fun DayGWBS has partnered with Bricks 4 Kidz Jamaica to provide our community with a family event where everyone had fun in the sun.

Sewing ClassOur girls got to work on their second sewing class with Monluwi Designs, and created their very own tote bags.

4th Annual Mother Daughter EventWe have partnered with Bricks 4 Kidz again on their 4th annual mother daughter event. Families spent there Sunday afternoon creating unique memories as they built and created unique models with LEGO ® Bricks.

FAA Airport ChallengeOur girls in the GWBS Coding Club have entered the FAA Challenge and are using Minecraft to create there very own airport.

Back to School JamWe have partnered with Bricks 4 Kidz again to help support our community as they enter school while also having fun in the process.

Summer Camp 2021Through this years camp, "Can we be the solution to the our Environment♻️" with coding, robotics and LEGO STEM, our girls got the opportunity to see, feel, and explore different careers through a variety of different event simulations--from a coding screenwriting project, to a full-fledged robotic design challenge. The girls got to explore the STEAM world in a friendly, immersive setting with other girls with the same aspirations and even got to do some dance and deejaying.

Cooking ClassSupa the Chef @supathechef taught our families how to make their very own chicken or shrimp egg rolls. Through this activity families were able to bond and create new memories together.

Woodshop WorkshopOur girls learned about force, mass, speed and more while they constructed their very own wooden castles. The solar powered model castle demonstrates structure design, electronics, and engineering.

Coding ClubGWBS has formed its very own coding club where the girls learn to code through using Scratch and more. Our instructor Dhruvee has engaged our girls and educate them to construct their own games and much more.

Book Club GuestsOur ongoing Book Club had special guests to honor Women's History Month and educate and empower our girls in the careers that they work. Laurie Davis (MTA Train Engineer) and Gwen Anderson (RN, MSN,SCRN, NE-BC Administrative Nurse Manager & Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit) helped draw attention to the amazing women who have pursued STEAM related fields.

Summer Camp 2020GWBS hosted our very first weeklong summer camp. Our campers traveled the world (China, Dubai, Africa and Paris) learning more about different cultures and constructing their own interpretations of important monuments. The girls also got to construct their own wooden music boxes and learn coding and robotics.

COVID The New Normal WorkshopOur Vice President Vanessa Best spoke with the community on the pandemic. She addressed the importance of PPE and provided vital information on staying safe.

Ear Savers InitiativeGirls who Build STEAM decided during the midst of the pandemic to give back. As a result, we 3D printed over 200 ear savers and donated them to the staff at Montefiore Hospital.

College Student DemonstrationOur high school graduates and college students got the opportunity to speak with our Vice President Vanessa Best on navigating the job market.

Monster Math DemonstrationOur girls got the opportunity to create their very own monsters while working on their math skills.
